What’s extra for Science

GCSE Science tiered topic tests
These tests cover each topic in the AQA GCSE specifications, broken down into Trilogy, Separate Sciences, Foundation and Higher tiers. They use up-to-date past paper questions, covering all Required Practicals within each topic, and mimic the demand and Assessment Objectives used in GCSE papers.
The ready to print PDFs are included with the Secondary Science Package or any GCSE Science subscription, and the assessments can be edited using Science Onscreen products.

KS3 to KS4 Transition Science tests
The KS3 to KS4 Transition Science tests are available with a MERiT Science subscription and are designed to support teachers in assessing their students’ readiness for GCSE and in identifying areas for intervention.
Paper 1 (30 minutes each for Biology, Chemistry and Physics) assesses elements of the KS3 National Curriculum that relate to the ‘key idea statements’.
Paper 2 (60 minutes) assesses the ‘working scientifically’ objectives from the KS3 National Curriculum.

GCSE Science Required Practical Resources
These resources cover all 28 of the AQA GCSE Required Practicals. They are ideal for use after a practical has been completed to deepen and embed students’ learning.
Each set of resources includes:
- Easy to edit teacher/ technician notes.
- Easy to edit student worksheet.
- A PowerPoint presentation that supports classroom discussion.

We realised the power of the online tests a few months ago and so trialled it with staff and students. The response from everyone has been very positive. The staff in particular love the QLA and feedback that it provides for teachers. As a result, we now do all of our topic tests online and only use paper exams for mock examinations. Pupils took a little while to get to understand how to do calculations, but once they had cracked this they were away! We do find that the online tests take a little longer to complete and add at least an extra 5 mins onto the time limit but other than that they are really great! We particularly enjoy logging on when the test is ready to be marked, to find that a large chunk has been automarked 😊
